Black Creatives Aotearoa’s (BCA) Black to the Future Zine photo entry

Blackness transcends time. The fact that we can take inspiration from mythologies born in 2350–c. 2100 BCE or even prior to that and thread her hair, which Nigerians have also used for years, and create sculptures from that is beautiful to me.

Shape of Auset | Isis headdress as a way to validate the identity of black women. Having the crown of their head being transformed into literal sculptures or shapes they desire allows them to be connected so deeply with themselves.
